Deep garnet in color, the 1999 The Factor shows an earthy, meaty and gamey nose that is a little musky. Full-bodied and rich, it has medium levels of velvety tannins that hold up the concentrated and long, spicy finish. It is mature now and ready to drink. Importer: Wine Creek Cellars, Sonoma, CA.

The spectacular 1999 The Factor is the second vintage of this 100% Shiraz cuvee aged primarily in old French oak for 30 months prior to being bottled with no fining or filtration. David Powell calls it the most classic Barossa Valley wine he makes. Yields from these old Shiraz vineyards average 1.35 tons of fruit per acre. The opaque inky/blue/purple color is accompanied by scents of new saddle leather, pepper, creosote, smoke, and blackberry liqueur.
