Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2014-2024, Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, Apr 2012

The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Beaux-Bruns is rich immediate wine. The Beaux-Bruns shows excellent depth and mid-palate juiciness, not to mention terrific freshness for the year. There is a delineation and energy to the Beaux-Bruns that is rare in 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. Barthod’s 2009s are just as impressive from bottle as they were from barrel. Barthod and her husband Louis Boillot told me they moved up their harvest date by four days in 2009 because the fruit was ripening quickly. That turns out to have been a very wise choice. The Barthod 2009s have wonderful energy to match the radiance of the year. Readers can’t go wrong with any of these superb 2009s Importer: Rosenthal Wine Merchant, Pine Plains, NY; tel. Good medium red. Very ripe cherry and raspberry aromas are enlivened by orange zest and lemon; unusually fresh for this cuvee in a hot year. Silky and fine-grained, with harmonious acidity framing the red fruit flavors. Strong and ripe but not at all overly sweet. Finishes very long, with suave tannins and good verve. Here's another 2009 that benefited from early picking.

Brownish tinge. Very complex and charming. Subtle and complete; delicate and yet seductive. Yes! Extremely clean and revitalising. (JR)

(the premier crus are aging in 20% to 30% new barrels) Dark red. Liqueur-like red and darker berries and black cherry on the very ripe nose. Creamy-sweet and lush, with fruit-driven flavors lifted by mineral and menthol nuances. Densely packed, rich and firmly tannic wine with just enough energy to maintain its balance. Barthod says she picked these vines "almost too ripe" on September 8; she views the wine as "in the style of other estates that picked later."
