This was served blind alongside La Landonne 1979 and I was very surprised to find it seemed more concentrated and less sweet than La Landonne. In fact I thought it was a Châteauneuf! It's gamey and very rich although with freshness on the finish. Probably the best of these 1979 reds. Marked acidity on the finish. Pretty exciting though on the way down. (JR)

A beautiful relic just past its prime. Ruby. Sweet, mentholated and almost burgundian. Old-fashioned, much more transparent than any of the other Côte-Rôties described here. Wonderfully nostalgic. A bit like the most gentle cough medicine. (JR)

Last Tasted 1/92 This wine continues to turn out better than I imagined. By the standards of La Mouline it has higher acidity than normal, but that component has served it well, preserving the freshness and guaranteeing a relatively slow evolution. The wine exhibits an intense, gamey, Syrah nose, super-rich, ripe flavors, and a full-bodied, long finish. It is just now reaching its plateau of maturity. Anticipated maturity: now-2005.
