Bright medium red. Red berry aromas complicated by musky game and soil tones and lifted by white pepper, flowers and savory herbs. A wonderfully deep, penetrating grand cru with outstanding inner-mouth saline minerality and piquant notes of pepper, flowers, spices and herbs. Great energy and precision here, not to mention transparency to soil. Still a bit youthfully imploded but already conveys an impression of superb balance and the tannins are utterly smooth. The wonderfully stimulating, salty, resounding finish stains the palate and leaves the mouth perfumed. Will this wine shut down in bottle?

The 2015 Bonnes-Mares Grand Crus is up there at the top of the pyramid and shows the seamless, sexy style of this vintage beautifully. Framboise, hints of blueberries, violets, spring flowers and spice characteristics all emerge from this rich, concentrated, yet ethereally styled 2015. Possessing integrated acidity, a layered, multidimensional texture, ripe tannin, and a great finish, it’s an incredible wine any way you look at it. Despite its incredible fruit, it’s going to take 7-8 years to hit maturity and keep for two decades.
From the Chambolle side below de Vogüé. 100% new oak. Deep garnet. Haunting perfume. Lots of energy with the rich ripe fruit enveloped in a casing of freshness. This should keep its energy for a long time. Fine, sleek tannins on the end. Not that long at the moment but all the constituents are there. (JR)

Wild, soil-inflected aromas of raspberry, mulch, roast coffee and musky minerality, lifted by a topnote of blood orange. Boasts outstanding urgency to its red berry and spice flavors but this compellingly juicy wine is tighter and more imploded today than the Clos de la Roche, and hiding its inherent sweetness of fruit. Finishes very long and vibrant, with substantial ripe, serious tannins. Should make a classic example of this typically long-lived grand cru.
