The Pagani Ranch vineyard is probably more famous in the States than over here, largely thanks to Ridge vineyards (they keep this for their Wine Club members rather than export markets!). A field blend from the 1880s, this vineyard is located in Sonoma, quite close to Bedrock vineyard. The fruit is sourced from a parcel that is heavily planted with Zinfandel, mixed with Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouschet, Carignan, Mataro, Mission, Lenoir, Petit Bouschet, Sémillon, Aramon and various other varieties. Exceptionally deep purple. Very ripe and concentrated. Sweet start. Very rich. Not quite sure when you would drink this because of its sweetness. Perhaps with cheese instead of port? Serious and youthful. Tastes more than 14.5% alcohol… (JR)

The 2015 Pagani Heritage is the most overt and flamboyant of the Sonoma Valley wines. Inky red fruit, wild flowers, violet, mint and plum infuse this super-concentrated, dense Zinfandel-based wine.
The 2015 Pagani Heritage Wine was one of the few barrel samples I tasted. It comes from a parcel in Sonoma planted in the 1880s in another mixed blacks’ field of clay. This wine exhibits a dense purple color, deep licorice, creosote, pen ink, and blueberry and blackberry fruit in a full-bodied, spicy style with some earthy, sexy notes in the background. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.
