Note di degustazione
The 2004 Barbaresco Sorì Paitin is a textbook example of the vintage, especially vis-à-vis the 2005. The aromatics are a bit more forward, but impression of texture is a bit silkier. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, earthiness, smoke and leather all take shape in a dark, sensual Barbaresco to drink now and over the next handful of years. The new oak is most evident in the aromas of torrefaction, but oak tannins are present as well. The 2004 spent two years in barrel.

(bottled in the spring of 2007) Good pure but subdued aromas of dark cherry, strawberry, licorice, flowers and minerals. Juicy and tightly wound; very closed today and hard to assess. But this is obviously dense and sweet, and finishes with broad tannins and a juicy quality. Am I underrating this?
The 2004 Barbaresco Sorì Paitin is intense and powerful in its expression of dark fruit, spices, earthiness and tar. Made in a pure, bold style, it is one of the more closed, shut down 2004 Barbarescos and will require at least a few years in bottle before revealing its truest potential.
