Pale gold color. Exotic, superripe aromas of peach, apricot, marmalade, marzipan and honey. Very rich but high-pitched, with intense spiciness and lovely, mouthfilling texture. Strong, clean botrytis tones. Finishes sweet but quite firm, with good acidity and a note of almond extract. A nicely balanced '96.

The 1855 classification placed Ch. de Rayne Vigneau just behind Ch. d’Yquem – also a nearby neighbour. Its 84-hectare vineyard sits in a single block on gravel mounds, overlooking the Ciron in Sauternes, and producing impressive sweet wines.
