Lively rich colour. Dense and rich and lively. The liveliest, possibly best of this flight. Neat and concentrated. Bit dry on the end. (JR)
A strong candidate for an outstanding rating, this dark ruby/purple-colored wine offers a sweet nose of plums, prunes, blackberries, chocolate, and mocha. Soft on the entry, revealing notes of smoke, licorice, and coffee, this fleshy, multi-layered effort finishes with abundant glycerin, tannin, and extract. Another 2-3 years of cellaring is warranted. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2016.
Loads of black olive, with a green character underneath. Full-bodied, with lots of toasted oak and an earthy flavor. Round tannins. Lacks fresh fruit, but interesting. A little more bottle age may help.¿'88/'98 Bordeaux blind retrospective (2008). Best after 2009. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2009
