Bright, deep ruby-red. Wild aromas of very ripe black fruits, game, flowers, licorice and pepper. Sweet, fat and broad but less detailed today than the Champeaux. Best today on the minerally, fresh finish, which features suave, building tannins and excellent length. Made with a high percentage of its stems, this wine clearly needs patience.

Very close parcel to the Charmes above. Very, very dark crimson/purple. Savoury, much darker than the Charmes above. With very fine tannins still but it's more concentrated and firmer, denser than the Charmes. (JR)
(vinified with two-thirds of its stems) Good full ruby-red. Wild aromas of black fruits, game, smoke, pepper and flowers, plus a whiff of animal fur. Less sweet and silky than the Charmes; in fact, much more a wine made with stems. A bit imploded today in the middle palate. Finishes with firm tannins and noteworthy persistence. Dugat prefers this relatively backward wine to the Charmes for its structure and spiciness.
