Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2026-2032, Eric Guido, Vinous, Oct 2025

A minty freshness introduces the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Dead Horse as notes of red plum, clove and blood orange form its delicate bouquet. It's juicy in style with cooling acidity and a mix of blueberry and blackberry fruit underscored by crunchy mineral tones. The Dead Horse tapers off long with a pleasantly bitter tinge as nuances of citrus and spice resonate.

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2025-2030, Jeb Dunnuck, Jul 2025

The 2022 Dead Horse is a big, meaty red that blends 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, and 2% Petit Verdot and is richly layered and dense in blackberry and dark chocolate. The tannins and oak are integrated within the full-bodied, jammy body, leading to a plush, refined finish. Drink through 2030.

Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2025-2030, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, May 2025

The 2022 Dead Horse is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot, matured for 21 months in 88% new French oak. Initial tones of glossy oak give way to cassis, dried herb and lilac aromas on the nose. The full-bodied palate pairs ripe, concentrated flavors with generous new-oak spice. It’s structured by soft, approachable tannins and rounded acidity and finishes with a touch of warmth. 2,057 cases produced.

Chocolate orange, walnuts, seaweed and blackcurrants on the nose, followed by a full-bodied, rich and juicy palate with silky tannins. I like the salty undertones. Drink or hold. 88% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot, 3% cabernet franc, 2% malbec and 2% petit verdot.
