The 2003 Matriarch, a blend from the lots selected from all of the vineyards used in the Bond program, reveals a forward, cedary, spicy, roasted herb-scented nose reminiscent of a top-notch Pauillac. Medium-bodied, fleshy, round and fully mature, this seductive 2003 is best drunk over the next 5-7 years. Superripe, roasted nose shows a medicinal quality. Lush and sweet but a bit cooler in style than the 2004. Today, the wine's edge of acidity has not yet come into harmony with its firm tannins.
