Punteggio 16/20 · Da bere 2008-2014, Jancis Robinson MW, Aug 2005

By far the deepest colour – still youthful crimson. Reticent nose but very suave tannin management on the palate. Quite an impact on the palate with acid and tannin in good balance but still very adolescent. Desperately introvert at the moment. Difficult to think of a fully evolved Las Cases of the current era – 1983? This should come right but I don’t really see the point of paying this sort of money for a wine that will never be absolutely top drawer. (JR)

Healthy crimson. Intense, medicinal introvert nose. Elegant for Léoville Las Cases! Approachable. Tannins lurk, but don't dominate. Bit brutal, though. (JR)

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2000-2016, Robert Parker, Apr 2000

A star of the vintage, this classy, cedary, black currant, and sweet cherry-scented, dense ruby-colored Las Cases exhibits a beautiful dosage of new oak, medium body, expansive, ripe, concentrated flavors, plenty of glycerin, and exceptional purity. It is low in acidity, and already delicious. Anticipated maturity: now-2016.
