Deceptively medium in body, the 2014 Pinot Noir Kistler Vineyard packs a real punch. Succulent red cherry, rose petal, lavender and violet are all pushed forward, but it is the wine's inner sweetness and aromatics that stand out. Today, the KV comes across as very restrained, with bright acids and fabulous balance. A rush of sweet red cherry, blueberry and pomegranate leave a lasting impression. The 2014 is going to need a bit of time in bottle to unwind, but it is superb.

Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir has a wonderfully spicy nose with notes of cinnamon, cloves and anise over a core of red and black cherries plus a waft of garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, it offers great intensity with loads of spicy berry fruit and just enough earthiness to add interest, finishing with a plush, velvety texture lining the way.
The two tank samples of the 2014 Pinot Noirs showed a more restrained, softer style of wines that are more front-end loaded. The 2014 Pinot Noir Kistler Vineyard has loads of strawberries, berry fruit a medium body, light tannin and a good pure, fresh finish.
The 2014 Pinot Noir Kistler Vineyard opens with huge, soaring aromatics. Vivid and wonderfully nuanced throughout, is both racy and refined, with bold up-front fruit and a fleshy personality that holds considerable near and medium-term appeal. Lifted aromatics and intense red cherry/pomegranate fruit flesh out in this superb, deeply expressive Pinot. There is a lot to look forward to, that is for sure.
