The 2009 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru from Louis Carillon is drinking well, offering up an expressive bouquet of pastry cream, lemon curd, spring flowers and white peach. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and richly textural, with a lascivious, unctuously layered mid-palate and a rich but nicely delineated finish. It doesn't rank among Carillon's greatest hits, but it's an attractively gourmand Bienvenues that I'd be inclined to drink now.

Fresh apricot and peach complemented by clove oil and sweet oak. Fat and chewy in the mouth; round and full but not a bit heavy. Conveys good spicy, dusty minerality but this is quite unforthcoming today and in need of patience. Still a bit aggressive on the back end.
Subdued nose hints at spices. Then juicy, intense and penetrating, with an impression of energy that goes beyond the premier crus in 2009. Still youthfully reserved, even imploded and a bit angular, but with excellent cut and clarity to the gingery spice and nut oil flavors. The most minerally of these 2009s, and perhaps the cuvee with the best acid balance for an extended evolution in bottle.
