Punteggio 93/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2007

(from a yield of 33 hl/ha, according to Marie-Christine Mugneret) Palish medium red. Wonderfully sexy, explosive nose combines red cherry, rose petal and a whiff of game. Suave and tangy in the mouth, with harmonious acidity giving the wine superb tension and inner-mouth aromatic character. Dense, vibrant and perfumed, with a mineral pungency accentuating the impression of lightness. Extremely refined finish features dusty tannins and lovely perfumed persistence. A knockout.

A gentle touch of wood spice frames a pungent nose of dark berry fruit aromas, particularly blueberry plus hint of warm earth, violets and truffles that merge seamlessly into textured and velvety full-bodied but not especially robust flavors that are sweet, mouth coating and display sneaky power and length on the subtly herb and mineral-infused finish.

Medium red. Complex nose combines redcurrant, red cherry, minerals, mocha and tobacco. Broad, sweet and creamy, but less expressive and perfumed in the mouth today than most of these 2004s. Perhaps a bit less sharply delineated. But spreads out nicely on the back, finishing with a fine dusting of tannins.
