Dark red. Expansive, seductively perfumed bouquet offers redcurrant, spiced cherry, pungent herbs and flowers and a bright mineral quality. Fresh but also concentrated, displaying sweet red fruit flavors and a refreshingly bitter pomegranate quality. Silky tannins build on the extended finish, which repeats the sweet red berry flavors and lingers impressively. I really like the combination of depth and lift here.

The medium ruby-colored, medium-bodied 2005 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard offers up aromas of pomegranate, rose petal, wet stone, and cherries. In the mouth, a notion of underbrush also emerges. Somewhat tannic and backward, 1-2 years of bottle age will bring forth something more charming and open-knit.
