2002 Altos Las Hormigas Malbec

Ruby-red. Aromas of raspberry, strawberry, minerals, mocha and cola (Dr. Pepper?). Dense and pliant but lively, with penetrating flavors of dark berries, cola, minerals and spices. Impressively rich and nuanced for a red wine in this price range. Finishes persistent and ripely tannic, with a flavor of black licorice. There is still a reserve bottling to come.
