Light yellow-gold. Pungent aromas of ripe pear, peach nectar, beeswax and white flowers, with a bright mineral overtone. Precise, spicy pit and citrus fruit and vanilla flavors are supported and sharpened by chalky minerality and a gingery nuance. Concentrated and powerful but lithe, in the manner of the best Loire Valley versions of the variety. Finishes on a smoky note, with outstanding clarity and persistence.

Brilliant, with ripe golden fruits, apple, vanilla cream and mineral-driven aromatics, the 2011 Sauvignon Blanc Vogelzang Vineyard shows loads of class and depth on the palate with integrated acidity and beautiful overall balance and freshness. It, too, strikes a good balance between overall richness and freshness, has fantastic clarity and focus, and will be versatile on the dinner table. The 2011 Sauvignon Blanc Vogelzang Vineyard is distinct and beautiful. Smoke, crushed rocks, slate, peach and apricot notes all flow from a wine that is both deeply mineral but also quite expressive in its fruit. The Vogelzang is all about delineation, and there is plenty of that here. A long, textured finish shaped by aging in oak (80%) rounds things out in style. This gorgeous, impeccable Sauvignon should drink nicely for at least a handful of years.
