The 2009 Pinot Noir Ancient Ocean La Encantada Vineyard comes across as delicate and understated. Sweet red cherries, crushed flowers and spices are some of the notes that emerge from this medium-bodied Pinot. There is good definition and nuance in the flavors, but not enough depth or concentration in my opinion to allow for more than a few years of aging. The Ancient Ocean is made from a selection of parcels within the Encantada vineyard.
