Note di degustazione
Inky violet. Deep-pitched black and blue fruit aromas pick up suggestions of olive, vanilla and exotic spices with air. Broad and expansive in style, offering palate-staining cassis, bitter cherry, licorice and violet pastille flavors that unfurl steadily and turn sweeter through the back half. Pliant tannins add shape to the very long, smoke- and spice-accented finish, which emphatically echoes the dark fruit, olive and floral notes. Aged for 18 months in French oak barriques and puncheons, 29% of them new.

Aged 18 months in 29% new French oak barrels and puncheons, the 2018 Syrah York Mountain contains 1% Viognier and is scented of cassis, smoked meats, fresh mint leaves and coffee beans. The palate is fully fruited but nearly weightless—ripe and juicy with an ethereal lift—and it finishes long and juicy. 418 cases produced.
The 2018 Syrah York Mountain is straight-up stunning and has everything I look for in a truly great Syrah. Boasting a purple hue as well as cool-climate notes of assorted darker fruits, smoked game, ground pepper, chocolate, and chalky minerality, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, flawless balance, beautifully integrated acidity, and a heavenly finish. This is a rich, concentrated yet exceedingly elegant, seamless Syrah from winemaker Jordan Fiorentini that needs a year or three of bottle age and will shine for over a decade.
