1999 Pahlmeyer Merlot

The opaque ruby/purple-colored 1999 Merlot (1,500 cases) displays a leafy, cool climate bouquet of red currants, chocolate, dried herbs, and forest floor characteristics. It is angular and less generous than the 2000. Its sweet, fruity attack quickly narrows to reveal moderate levels of tannin. Is there enough stuffing to support the tannin? Time will tell.
