Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2022-2055, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

The 2015 Riesling Trocken Landgeflecht Unikat is deep, clear, precise and fresh on the nose but also dense, perfectly ripe and even rich. But it is also so spiced with quartzite that the richness isn't the first impression you get, but rather perfectly ripe Riesling berry with minty and stony notes. Concentrated but immediately savory on the palate, this is a tight and tensioned, very intense, saline and persistent Riesling with enormous freshness, although there was virtually no rain between February and fall. The acidity is stunning and highly stimulating in its salinity. This is a fantastic, very individual wine that tastes as if it's not from a coolish vintage. It was aged on the full lees for two years. 13% stated alcohol. Tasted from magnum at the domaine in August 2022.

As so often with top Kühn dry Rieslings, the combined effects of malo-lactic transformation, long lees-contact, body (here from amazingly unobtrusive 13.5% alcohol) and high glycerol, engender a seductive suggestion of sweetness that reinforces succulent quince and white peach. And that combination of richness and fruit intensity is signaled already in a high-toned, ester-rich nose, along with almond extract and perfume of buddleia, heliotrope and lily-of-the-valley. The long finish haunts with inner-mouth florality and rich fruit, complemented by intriguingly alkaline and mossy notes as well as a mouthwateringly oyster-like amalgam of nutty, vegetal, chalky and saline elements. While this did not receive significantly longer élevage than its Doosberg and St. Nikolaus counterparts, it was never racked until just before bottling, and was held for a year in bottle before release. “In the case of Landgeflecht,” notes Kühn, “I gave the 2016 version a bit less time on the full lees so as to preserve freshness, elegance and refinement; whereas, there was no risk that this 2015 – with its substance, strength and acidity – would become too opulent.”
