Brilliant ruby. A highly complex, expansive bouquet evokes ripe red and blue fruits, Indian spices and candied flowers, and a smoky mineral nuance gains strength as the wine opens up. Stains the palate with sweet black raspberry and boysenberry flavors that deepen and become spicier on the back half. Delivers an impressive combination of power and finesse and shows no excess fat. Lingers with superb tenacity on the finish, which features velvety tannins and a suave, lingering floral quality.

Restrained but glowing, jewelled, souk-spiced nose. This cuvée has the warmth and charm that her other wines, in their intense, cool focus, don't have. It loses none of that signature electric energy or athletic control, but it's just a little softer, a little more curved, with just a bit more fruit weight to balance those long lines of minerality. Smooth and polished with real freshness, but the finish is wrapped in gravelly tannins. As with the Côte du Py, there's a graphite undertow that turns the sweetness of the fruit into something much more savoury and deep. (TC)
