The 2020 Pinot Noir Macintyre Estate is full of dark candied fruit, with blackberry, cedar, and nutmeg. The palate is full and juicy up front, with cherry liqueur, dusty earth, and warming spice on the finish. Drink 2024-2040.

The 2020 Pinot Noir MacIntyre Estate Vineyard is a brand new cuvée from Dumol, from a vineyard planted in 2016. "I wouldn't normally bottle wine from young vines," explains winemaker Andy Smith. "This was just too exciting. For me, it's the most exciting young vineyard I've ever worked with. It's planted with high-density Calera and Swan selections, in sandy soils in our lowest (and coldest) block." It has a medium ruby color and continually unfolding scents of dried cranberries, orange peel, tobacco leaves, lilac and licorice. The medium-bodied palate offers ripe, concentrated fruits, refined, grainy tannins, seamless acidity and a long, perfumed finish. Only 300 cases were made.
The 2020 Pinot Noir McIntyre Estate Vineyard, here in its debut vintage, is dense and brooding. A blast of dark cherry, menthol, licorice, pine, tobacco and dried herbs gives the McIntyre its virile, somber personality. I would give this a few years to soften. There's plenty of wine here.
