The 2023 Arbois Trousseau Cuvée des Geologues Marne Rouge is a little riper and has a touch of earthy rusticity, with a little more structure. It's fresher than the 2022 I tasted last year, with better balance. This comes from a plot planted in the 1980s on red marl soils. 3,000 bottles produced.

The 2023 Arbois Trousseau Cuvée des Géologues Marne Rouge opens with lifted overtones of red plum, rose petal and rosehip. Slightly weightier than the Les Bruyères of the same vintage, its hallmark silky tannins frame a juicy core of ripe red fruit on the light- to medium-bodied palate. Vivid freshness carries through. Allow the 2023 at least another year in a cool cellar.
