Note di degustazione
Leading off the trio of Côte Rôtie from this estate, the 2022 Côte Rôtie La Triote is all Syrah brought up in French oak barrels for 16-18 months (15% new). It has a terrific perfume of blackberry and red plums as well as sappy flowers, game, and violets. This textured, medium to full-bodied, round, nicely textured 2022 has the sun-kissed style of the vintage while staying balanced and nicely structured. The tannins will benefit from just 2-3 years of bottle age, and it will shine over the following decade or more. Drink 2027-2037. Located in Ampuis, Domaine Garon continues its steady rise under the leadership of brothers Kévin and Fabien Garon, who have gradually taken over the day-to-day operations since joining the estate in 2003. Farming is sustainable, and winemaking remains largely traditional, with small amounts of whole cluster fermentation, long macerations, and élevage in 20-25% new French oak for approximately 18 months. Bottling occurs without fining or filtration. The range includes several Côte Rôtie cuvées, highlighted by the elegant, complex Lancement, the structured, powerful Les Rochins, and the more accessible La Sybarine, along with an expanding lineup of whites from Condrieu, Saint Joseph, and Hermitage.

Crafted from vines planted on the lieu-dit La Triote, situated in the Côte Brune sector, the 2022 Cote Rotie Les Triotes offers up aromas of dark wild berries, mulberries, spices, pepper and smoke. Medium to full-bodied, linear and dense, this is a perfectly balanced, structured Côte-Rôtie with velvety tannins enhanced by a long, delicate finish. Fermented with 25% whole clusters, this classic wine was matured for 18 months in barrel (50% new).
The 2022 Côte-Rôtie La Triote introduces itself with intense wood smoke, dried meat, licorice and ripe black cherry tones. A hint of pencil shaving adds another layer. Concentrated and round, the 2022 is a precise and intense La Triote, landing on a spicy finish.
