Opening in the glass with aromas of cassis, vine smoke, spices and cedar wood, the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Village is medium to full-bodied, seamless and lively, with powdery tannins and an earthy finish. As usual, this incorporates fruit from premiers crus Perrières and Etournelles Saint-Jacques.
Cask sample. Mid ruby. In contrast to the Clos du Château, the domaine’s village Gevrey is quite refined and finely perfumed with red cherry and rose. Quite slight, but elegant and would complete a delicious lunch. (MH)
The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Village offers darker fruit than the Clos du Château, beautifully defined with hints of dried rose petal. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth entry, quite fresh and saline. Filigree tannins and a dab of soy wrap around the composed finish. Delightful.
