Like in 2019, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Volcanic Hill is more impressive than the winery's other offerings. It's an impressively dark-fruited, cassis-laden effort that's rich, full-bodied and framed by wonderfully velvety tannins that widen out into a long, licorice-tinged finish. This is darn good stuff, which should drink well from 2025 through at least 2045.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Volcanic Hill is dark and explosive in the glass, with real energy driving the blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, licorice and chocolate flavors. Deep and substantial, the Volcanic Hill offers a striking combination of the virile power this wine is known for but with the slightly soft contours of the year. That's a pretty appealing combination in my book.
