The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is terrific. Macerated black cherry, espresso, licorice, blood orange and mint all open with some coaxing. At ten years of age, the 2015 is still a young wine. I would prefer to drink it over the next few years before the fruit starts dropping out. There's real power, breadth and substance here.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma Valley comes mostly from the Moon Mountain District. It is blended with 13% Cabernet Franc and matured in 100% new oak for 22 months. The nose is bursting with layers of milk chocolate, cigars, iodine and savory herbs complementing a core of Morello cherry. The medium to full-bodied palate is just beginning to soften around the edges. It has a pleasurable hint of rusticity from a bit of textural grip and umami-driven fruit, and its layered finish calls you back to the glass. It's drinking beautifully now and will continue to mature gracefully over the next 10+ years. 783 cases were made.
Checking in as a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Cabernet Franc from the Sonoma Valley, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon spent 22 months in new French oak barrels before being bottled unfined. This elegant, classic Sonoma Cabernet gives up lots of blackberry and currant fruits to go with textbook lead pencil, dried earth, and leafy herb-like aromas and flavors. Nicely balanced and medium to full-bodied, with plenty of length on the finish, it can be enjoyed any time over the coming 15+ years. This is a classic, gorgeous example of Sonoma Valley Cabernet!
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon packs a serious punch. Rich and heady, with fabulous aromatic presence, the 2015 has so much to offer. Ripe red plum, mocha, espresso, raspberry jam and new leather build as this sumptuous, statuesque Cabernet Sauvignon shows off its personality and class. The tannins are just a bit coarse at this stage, and yet there is so much intrigue here. This is such a distinctive wine. In 2015, most of the fruit was sourced from Stone Edge’s Silver Cloud vineyard on Moon Mountain. I tasted this wine as part of a panel presentation of the forthcoming Vinous Map of Moon Mountain.
