There are 304 cases of Brion's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Moon Mountain Vineyard, made by Massimo Monticelli. From the warmer (Sonoma) side of Mount Veeder, it offers up seductive notes of pencil shavings and crushed stones, then moves into black cherries and cassis, with the occasional flourish of dried sage. It's full-bodied and concentrated, yet remains silky, balanced and complex, adding hints of licorice on the lingering finish. Gorgeous stuff.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Moon Mountain District is a heady, opulent wine. Even so, there is plenty of delineation of the dark fruit, chocolate, new leather and lavender flavors. Savory top notes develop later, adding further shades of dimension. Elegant and yet also flamboyant, the 2019 will provide fabulous drinking for the next 15 years or so.
