The larger production cuvée (1,748 cases) is the 2013 Pinot Noir Treehouse Vineyard, which comes from a higher elevation site that's above the fog line, roughly eight miles from the Pacific Ocean. Its deep ruby color is followed by to-die-for notes of black raspberries, crushed violets, cassis, spice and toasted bread. Utterly perfect on the palate, with medium to full-bodied richness, an ethereal, seamless, multi-dimensional texture, fine tannin and crazy length, hats off to the team at CIRQ for this singular beauty. The 2012 Pinot Noir Treehouse Vineyard has turned out beautifully. Deep, rich and layered in the glass, the 2012 possesses striking depth in its dark red toned fruit. Bright veins of acidity support the explosive fruit in a delineated, nuanced Pinot full of personality. (AG)

Made by the team at Kosta Brown, the 2012 Pinot Noir Treehouse Vineyard comes from iron-rich, red soils and vines at an elevation of 750 feet. It's a beautiful Pinot Noir that offers up classy cassis, liquid flowers, rose petal and ground herbs in its gorgeously textured, layered, and vibrant personality. I love the core of sweet fruit here, and it has integrated acidity and a terrific finish. Hard to resist now, it will evolve nicely for upward of a decade.

Vivid ruby. Intense raspberry and candied rose scents are complemented by deeper notes of licorice and cola. Supple and broad in the mouth, offering sweet dark berry flavors and a hint of bitter chocolate. Round and inviting pinot, with slow-building tannins coming in late and adding shape and grip to the strikingly long, fruit-driven finish. Showing more structure and density than most of the Kosta-Browne 2012s and definitely built for aging.
