2016 Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III (100% Cabernet) has a deep garnet-purple color and delivers decadent notes of plum preserves, blueberry pie and chocolate-covered cherries with wafts of lavender, wild thyme and chargrill. Medium to full-bodied, firm, grainy and quite earthy in the mouth, it has lovely restraint and a mineral finish. 160 cases produced.

This valley floor site in Rutherford has turned out a blockbuster with the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard. As with all of Jean’s single vineyard releases in 2016, it was barrel fermented (Jean believes this helps integrate the oak) and spent 22 months in 80% new barrels. This tiny production release (160 cases) offers up awesome notes of crème de cassis, white chocolate, lead pencil, and cedar. Full-bodied, concentrated, and powerful, it nevertheless shines for its elegant, balanced profile, has no hard edges, and is a complete, beautiful wine that will drink well for 15-20 years.
