Reminiscent of a lighter-weight 2009, the sexy, downright Provencal 2011 Gigondas offers tons of sweet kirsch, blackberry, garrigue, lavender and toasted spice aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, elegant, upfront and drinking at point, it's not going to be the longest lived wine from this estate, but it should keep nicely for another 3-5 years.

Bright ruby. Heady aromas of raspberry liqueur, lavender and apricot, along with notes of incense and Asian spices. Stains the palate with intense red fruit and floral pastille flavors, with a repeating note of exotic apricot lending a sweet touch. Closes sappy and very long, with resonating spiciness and silky, even tannins.
Deep ruby. A wild, exotically perfumed bouquet evokes candied red fruits, potpourri and apricot pit, with a spicy overtone. Sappy and expansive on the palate, offering an array of candied red fruit and floral pastille flavors and suggestions of succulent herbs and pit fruits. Finishes smooth and juicy, with subtle tannins and a jolt of white pepper.
Ruby notes on mid crimson. Slightly stewed fruit aromas. Very sweet palate entry and then marked acidity. Rather a hole in the middle. (JR)
