Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, the 2014 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru from Lamarche has an attractive bouquet with ebullient red cherry and crushed strawberry scents, with the oak neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and decent fruit concentration; however, it is marred by some rather otiose, toasty new oak on the finish. How frustrating! But I suspect, given 3-4 more years in bottle, this should melt together. Tasted September 2017.

Chestnutty flavours. Dry end. Not that intense but well balanced and lively. (JR)

Today run by the fourth-generation Nicole Lamarche, this property (previously known as Domaine François Lamarche) is firmly among the best in Burgundy. The Vosne-Romanée estate is most famous for its monopole Grand Cru La Grande Rue.
