100% destemmed, then fermented with cultured yeasts in open-top 4.5-ton fermenters. Lightly filtered, no fining. Aged in 20% new French oak. 444 cases made. Medium garnet with ruby highlights. Smells of raspberries, red-apple skin and dried flowers. Flavours of raspberries, cedar, dried herbs and some green herbs mix under a gauzy haze of barely perceptible tannins. Excellent acidity and hints of orange peel in the finish. (AY)
The 2019 Pinot Noir Edna Valley offers more density and depth, with ripe black cherry fruits as well as sappy flowers and green foresty notes. It's soft, supple, and nicely balanced on the palate, although it falls off far too quickly on the finish.
