Note di degustazione
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Passage is coy in the glass, slowly evolving with notes of lavender, cola, sage, blackberry and dried orange peel. It's textural and elegant with a cascade of red and black fruit complicated by an inner herbal thrust and a touch of dark chocolate. Red Mountain tannins resonate, yet are nicely integrated, as the 2021 finishes long and potent. It leaves a tart wild berry concentration and hints of sweet spice on the finish.

I loved the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Passage (97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Malbec), which has a pure, focused, incredibly impressive style. Cassis, smoked tobacco, graphite, and scorched earth notes all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, layered mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. Hide bottles for 2-4 years and enjoy over the following 15 years or so. It's beautifully done.
Tasted as a barrel sample, Canvasback's 2021 Grand Passage is firm, juicy and bold. Seductive layers of black raspberry and spiced plum compote sway with dark cherries with oaky essences and resinous purple flowers. The wine reveals a myriad of juicy dark red and black fruit tones that dance across the mid-palate with elegance, power and finesse. Even at this stage, the wine is seductive and juicy, showcasing a ripe and ready essence that promises to be a blockbuster upon release. Mark your calendars for this highly anticipated release; it will undoubtedly be worth the wait.
