Shaw & Smith 2008 M3 Chardonnay gives intense tropical aromas with notes of pineapple paste, some mango and guava over whiffs of butterscotch and meal. Popcorn, vegetal, pineapple; ripe and fruity but not simple, there is smoke on the length and a good citrus brightness. Dense on the mid-palate, sophisticated and satisfying. (RH)
Relatively rich nose and some good taut finish. Very disciplined wine with real chew and future. The acidity only just avoids being excessive but the wine has real interest. (JR)
