Fermented with 15% whole clusters (the vintage had tiny berries and Adam said that even this small percentage yielded almost more stems than berries), the 2013 Pinot Noir Cargasacchi Vineyard offers soaring notes of stems, spice, underbrush, flowers and juicy berry fruit in a forward, sexy and fruit-filled style. Called a "love it or hate it" style by Adam, it seemed classic Pinot Noir with stem influence to me. I'd happily drink it anytime over the coming 4-6 years.

Bright ruby. Highly perfumed raspberry, redcurrant and Asian spice scents show very good clarity and a sexy floral overtone. Concentrated red berry flavors stain the palate, becoming livelier and spicier with air. Finishes sweet, focused and long, with fine-grained, building tannins and a lingering floral pastille quality.
The 2013 Pinot Noir Cargasacchi Vineyard is unusually ripe and sweet, much of that because the fruit was picked into October, very late by the standards of what was generally an early ripening vintage. Today, the 2013 is decidedly eccentric. It will be interesting to see how it turns out from bottle. The 2013 was done with 15% whole clusters.
