The intensity of fruit in the nose is so impressive with blackberries, blackcurrants and lavender. Extremely aromatic. Full-bodied, tight and focused with polished and chewy tannins. Blackberries, currants, walnuts and hazelnuts on the palate. Solid core of fruit and ripe tannins. Classically structured.

Blended of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot matured for 22 months in French oak, 90% new, this vintage has an alcohol level of 14.9%. Deep garnet purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Georges de Latour is still incredibly youthful. Sporting notions of cedar and cinnamon toast to begin, the nose opens out beautiful notes of warm cassis, crushed red and black plums and kirsch with floral hints of roses and candied violets. Sparks of crushed rocks and cast iron pan plus a touch of dried herbs emerge with coaxing. Full-bodied, rich, bold and energetic in the mouth, the palate reveals a very firm backbone of ripe, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long with beautiful mineral accents. (LPB)
Composed of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Georges de Latour was aged for 22 months in French oak barrels, 100% new. It boasts an alcohol level of 15.2%. Deep garnet in color with a touch of purple, it’s a little broody today, offering glimpses at spice cake, baked raspberries, warm cassis and blueberry pie with hints of menthol, mocha, cigar box and forest floor. Big, full-bodied, firm and grainy, this is a powerful wine that is in a bit of a mute phase right now in terms of fruit expression, finishing long and earthy. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this wine exceeds my expectations in another 3-5 years.
Bright medium ruby. Brooding aromas of blackberry, cassis, licorice, crushed herbs, violet and bitter chocolate. Juicy and penetrating on the palate, showing terrific spicy definition and lift to its dark fruit and violet flavors. This distinctly tight and firmly tannic vintage may be in the process of shutting down in bottle. Noteworthy energy allows this wine to carry its alcohol gracefully, but this will almost certainly be for drinking after the 2014. It will merit a higher score if time brings more sweetness and texture. (15.2% alcohol; 3.68 pH, 6.0 g/l acidity; aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak)
