Matured for 10 months in used French oak, the 2020 Chardonnay Brosseau has expressive aromas of peach, apple, mushroom powder, flint and toasted almonds. The medium-bodied palate is focused on umami character rather than overt fruit, offering savory flavors and a pleasurable touch of grip. It’s balanced by bright acidity and has a long, honeyed finish. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. 200 cases were made.

The 2020 Chardonnay Brosseau Chalone is more savory with white button mushrooms, dried herbs, and pear. The palate is full of tension, followed by mineral nerve and acid drive on the finish. A gastronomic expression, it will be wonderful to see this develop over the next 15 or more years.
