Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2024-2032, Josh Raynolds, Dec 2022

Saturated ruby. Ripe, smoke-accented dark fruit, olive paste and cracked pepper qualities on the nose. Broad and supple in texture, offering vaguely jammy blackberry and kirsch flavors and a hint of candied flowers. Finishes pliant and long, with repeating olive and pepper notes and round, even tannins. Weightier than usual for this bottling, and more like its Saint-Joseph sibling this vintage.

The 2018 Crozes-Hermitage has plenty of peppery, earthy dark fruits as well as medium-bodied richness on the palate. Nicely balanced, with terrific purity and a great finish. It’s perfect for drinking over the coming 5-7 years.

Loaded with upfront blueberries and cherries, the 2018 Crozes Hermitage is medium to full-bodied, pleasantly plump and generous in the mouth. It's ripe and silky, with a soft wash of dusty tannins on the finish. Your perfect hamburger wine for the next few years?

95% Marsanne, 5% Roussanne. No MLF. Nutty nose with a touch of bitter grapefruit flavour. Thick and glutinous in texture. The bitterness provides refreshment in the absence of acidity. (RH)
