Crimson with some ruby rim. Full and nutty. Already very broad and luscious – the fruit almost covers the considerable acidity and (slightly) less considerable tannin. Lots of alcohol on the finish. Very drying tannins on the finish. A bit raw. (JR)

This dark ruby/purple-colored offering exhibits aromas of animal fur, licorice, blackberries, and earth. Rich and full-bodied, although more monolithic than many of its peers, this excellent 1997 vintage port falls short of being exceptional. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2020. Importer: unknown.
Good full ruby. Enticing aromas of black cherry, raspberry, blackberry, black cherry and cocoa powder, accompanied by notes of fresh herbs and mint, plus a whiff of apple. A concentrated, fat but slightly spirity wine, with the green component giving brightness to its moderately dense flavors. Finishes with slightly gritty, toothcoating tannins and a note of medicinal black cherry.
