Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2020-2027, Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate, Dec 2020

Beginning with a beautifully aromatic nose of cereal grain and peach ring, the 2017 Viognier Powerline Estate is loaded with a full floral bouquet and lifting oak spices in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, the wine offers a plush mouthfeel and considerable weight through the mid-palate. The balanced wine ends with a classic and fresh finish with hints of phenolic bitterness. Nicely done.

Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2020-2023, Jeb Dunnuck, Apr 2020

All barrel fermented (10-15% new French oak) the 2017 Viognier Powerline is a Condrieu-like effort that has beautiful notes of musky pineapple, caramelized orange, and honeyed flower notes. Rich, medium to full-bodied, textured, and beautifully balanced, it's a stunning Viognier to drink over the coming 2-3 years. This is what I call a stacked lineup from K Vintners, and the team of Charles Smith and Brennon Leighton continue to make brilliant wines. The lineup is broken up into multiple brands today, with K Vintners focusing primarily on Rhone varieties. The Wines of Substance (or just Substance) label are the Bordeaux based wines, then you have CasaSmith, Sixto, B. Leighton, and now Golden West.

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2019-2022, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Dec 2019

Bright medium yellow. Slightly reduced yet delicate aromas of white peach and spices; smells richer than the Art Den Hoed Viognier. Round, fruit-driven and mouthfilling; less salty than the Art Den Hoed and perhaps a bit less food-flexible but the pink grapefruit flavor shows a glyceral umami quality. Very smooth Viognier. (from a vineyard at 1,200 feet on an ancient cobblestone river bed; barrel-fermented in puncheons; full ML; aged for 18 months on its lees)
