Note di degustazione
100% Chardonnay from grand cru Chouilly. It might just be me suffering from conservative conditioning when it comes to champagne, but I would not have expected this gold-punted bottle with an ultra-modern, funky, playful label looking like a hand-painted homage to retro comic books to contain £130-worth of vintage champagne. The wine is most definitely not playful. Bone dry, a little smoky, lots of iodine. Very serious. Very marine. Dramatic and fierce. I’d love to try this with sashimi – there is something about the wine that echoes seaweed and soy, pickled ginger, yuzu and sesame. No rush to drink this. (TC)

The 2012 Brut Cuvée Saint Vincent Grand Cru is a pure Chardonnay from Chouilly. A shy nose gives a serene note of wheat bran and chalk, which appear far more defined and concentrated on the fresh palate. Lovely acidity provides a straight and upright backbone, making the mouth water with lovely citric intensity, while evolved autolysis and fruit lend a pleasant edge to caramelized Mirabelle. Lasting, with some 2012 drama in the fruit. Freshness contrasts with subtle, delicious umami notes. Disgorged: June, 2023. - Anne Krebiehl MW
