Note di degustazione
Still in barrel at the time of my November visit, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Amoenus Vineyard was scheduled to be bottled in January 2024. Three blocks, each planted to a different clone/selection went into this wine, which is floral and fragrant, with delicate herb shadings laid gently over a base of black cherries. Full-bodied and plush, this velvety wine is large-scaled but balanced, rich and concentrated, with a long, firmly tannic finish.

Not yet bottled, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Amoenus Vineyard is from a great site on the western side of Calistoga and comes from vines planted in 1998. Coming from three parcels (all different clones) and still resting in 90% new oak, it sports a dense purple hue to go with awesome notes of cr me de cassis, blueberries, graphite, hints of chalky minerality, espresso, and flowers. Deep, rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, it has building tannins, a stacked mid-palate, remarkable purity, and a great, great finish.
