Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2021-2026, David Schildknecht, Vinous, Mar 2021

Narcissus, musk, peppermint, roux, orange, passion fruit and pronouncedly pit-inflected white peach combine for an aromatic impression that at first had me thinking Kirchenstück. The palate comes off as unexpectedly and pleasantly buoyant for a wine labeled 13% alcohol, while also surprising with its bright lemon-lime edge. The feel is polished and glossy. Musky and piquant notes persist as part of an earthy undertone to the finish, which for all of the wine’s richness manages to convey refreshment. From cask, this exhibited penetrating, almost tongue-quivering intensity. From bottle, though, there was considerably less focus or energy. Perhaps the hint of wood resin that peeks through on the finish points to one inhibiting factor. This definitely deserves retasting.

Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2023-2040, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Jan 2020

Stephan Attmann's 2018 Pechstein GG "VDP. Grosse Lage" is super clear, fresh and spicy on the elegant and fragrant, rather citric and slightly oaky nose. Round and lush on the palate, this is a fine, elegant and very intense Pechstein with a salty-piquant and structured finish with a fine tannin grip and great aging potential. Tasted in Deidesheim, December 2019.
