The 2020 Pinot Noir Bressay Estate Vineyard is finessed in its aromas of ripe pomegranate, cedar, and sweet baking spice. The palate is elegant and energetic, with a more lifted feel on the palate, and has notes of red plum skin and saline mineral earth. Drink it over the next 20 years or more.

The 2020 Pinot Noir Bressay Estate Vineyard is a brand new cuvée from Dumol. Fruit from these vines used to go to the Finn bottling. Winemaker Andy Smith says, "We have had these vines a long time. In 2015, we decided to bud them over to Calera and 943 clones. So, this is the first vintage of that re-budded selection from a south-facing, high-density block, on some of the best soils." Made using one-third whole clusters, it has a medium ruby color and pure aromas of pomegranate, rhubarb, tangerine peel and blueberries with touches of tea leaves and forest floor. The medium-bodied palate is delicate and perfumed, with refreshing acidity and a pretty, floral finish.
A new wine in this range, the 2020 Pinot Noir Bressay Estate Vineyard is powerful and burly right out of the gate. Black cherry, incense, licorice and cloves bring out the darker side of Pinot. The Bressay is not especially refined, but it sure has a lot of character. I look forward to tasting future vintages.
