The 2018 Chablis Vaulorent 1er Cru has a perfumed nose of dandelion, jasmine and crushed chalk aromas, a faint sea spray note emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a spicy ginger and sage-influenced opening. There is a feisty element to this Vaulorent, a touch of white pepper sprinkled over the finish. Lively and engaging. I would be tempted to broach this earlier than Louis Michel’s other cuvées, yet it is still a well-crafted and quite complex Chablis.

The 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume—which hails, as usual, from the lieu-dit Vaulorent that neighbors Les Preuses—delivers aromas of crisp orchard fruit, white peach and spring flowers. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly satiny and enveloping, it's fine-boned and charming, with bright acids and pretty fruit tones.
The 2018 Chablis Vaulorent 1er Cru is dense, creamy and expansive, with terrific textural resonance and long, beautifully expressive finish. Silky and layered, the Vaulorent possesses tremendous intensity and drive. Lemon confit, almonds, dried flowers, chamomile and mint grace this subtle, wonderfully nuanced Chablis. The 2018 is powerful (as wines from this site tend to be) but also incredibly refined. That contrast is precisely what makes it so appealing.
