2023 Domaine Francois Buffet Pernand-Vergelesses Les Vergelesses 1er Cru

The 2023 Pernand-Vergelesses Les Vergelesses 1er Cru has a slightly austere bouquet at the moment. It opens nicely in the glass with brambly red fruit and forest floor notes. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy tannins, a little granular in texture and attractive notes of bay leaf and allspice toward the finish. It's not bad, though it could be better given the vineyard.
