1996 Chateau Col Solare Red

Deep saturated ruby. Ripe, spicy aromas of blackberry, cassis, clove and dark chocolate, plus a suggestion of sunburned fruit. Ripe and smooth but rather featureless; offers a generic sweet grapey intensity but the flavors are a bit muddy. Quite tannic and somewhat dry and attenuated on the finish. For 68 I expect a bit more refinement and personality.
